The Tour Down Under is an annual, 6 day stage race. It is run in the area around Adelaide, South Australia and is unique in that all the stages start and finish 1.5 hours of Adelaide - the Tour (riders, personnel and officials) is based for the whole week in the same hotel and spectators can easily follow more than one day of the race..... In addition, a "Tour Village" is set up in the middle of Adelaide city centre. Each evening, there is public access - providing fans with the opportunity to mingle with the stars, mehcanics and even buy from the merchandise stalls. There is also a women's race series run in conjunction with the TDU - the Adelaide Advertisor Criterium Series. The series runs over 3 days of the TDU week and attracts the best Australian women cyclists.
